The word yo does not have one dominant definition there is only one way to describe it's many uses:
1. (YO; as in yo-yo) An exclamation (Can be either negative or positive in it's connotation) meant to capture one's attention.
1. YO, what the fuck!
2. YO, wait up!
3. YO, did you do the math homework?
4. YO, what's up?
5. YOOOOO, niiiiice car!

The only word that can be inserted into any place of a sentence, fragment, clause, or phrase, and still make sense.

The word 'yo' can be added to almost any sentence to add style. It can also mean 'hello'.
